Pill Popping: Prescription Drug Abuse During the College Years

America loves college. Whether it be a hilarious flick about fraternity life or an Autumn Saturday filled with plenty of rivalry-driven football games, we simply can’t get enough of anything and everything associated with our many institutions of higher learning. What’s less attractive about college, however, is what’s rarely presented to the general public: all-nighters, long hours in the library, jam-packed testing centers and unending assignments.
Due to the extreme stress levels that many students feel, prescription drug abuse makes its way into weekly rituals — regardless of whether or not students have previously spent time in drug rehab facilities — as a combative means of scholastic survival. If America’s up-and-coming generation — though currently still in school — doesn’t find an alternate outlet for stress relief, prescription drug abuse will most assuredly have a firm grip on our country’s future.
